What I have learned thus far about Action Research

Well, I had no idea what action research was before I started this course, but now as I have done some reading on the subject it is quite interesting. At some point in your life sometimes you just assume things about a subject or even think you know how to fix a certain problem, so you do what you think is best and move along. Then later come to find out what you thought was the best solution, wasen't! Well this is where "action research" comes in. Once I started reading and learning about this subject, quite frankly, I thought, "Couldnt you do this type of reasoning with every problem you encounter in your life?" Things would be much easier. My father always told me, "Two heads are better than one." When it comes to action research in the educational setting, there are probably numerous occasions throughout the day that this type of collaboration takes place. I have learned from my recent readings on this subject that when you do take the time to assess needs and then discuss with collegues the different approaches and agree on the best solution that you can really achieve the results that you want.
I believe that using this method would be beneficial to all involved. At the present moment in my job, every Thursday after school me and other school staff have after school meetings about a special needs child. Using an action research type forum and problem solving technique would certainly make better use of our time and we would come to more of an agreement on how we handle certain situations with this child
